Shingles and Surprises

Well it's been a quiet week at Painted Views, but we're still making progress.

It took two days, but all the shingles are on the roof.  The color is called "Shakewood".  We couldn't get the terra cotta look that we'd
originally wanted so we decided to go with something in the lighter color range to reflect the sun's rays.

The fireplace and flue went in this week.

And the big surprise of the week was finding out that a whole house Pest Management System was being installed.  Little hoses were installed in all the exterior walls that will allow a pesticide to be injected and dispersed into the walls to keep out unwanted pests, like spiders, scorpions and the like.  Unfortunately it won't keep out other pests, like bill collectors.

And a deficiency in the AC ducting was discovered  that will require one more chase to be installed on the second floor to allow a return air duct from one of the first floor rooms.  Things like that will come up from time to time but at least this isn't a major problem.
